The Objective

Client Challenge

Target was seeking a high-impact activation to energize Timberwolves fans and create a deeper connection between attendees and the team’s brand identity. The activation needed to:

  • Feel personal and interactive — not just passive viewing
  • Feature Timberwolves players in a fun, engaging way
  • Allow fans to create and share content easily
  • Drive foot traffic and buzz at the event
  • Integrate digital participation with physical rewards

They wanted something that would live beyond the moment — a shareable experience fans would remember, talk about, and post about.

Execution

Our Solution

BGWG Monster Media designed and developed a custom software experience for a branded vending machine that blended video, gamification, user-generated content, and instant gratification.

1. Watch & Emulate

Fans were invited to watch a short video clip of a Timberwolves player striking their signature flex pose directly on the vending machine’s touchscreen interface.

2. Record Your Flex

Using the machine’s built-in camera, the software prompted fans to record themselves doing their best version of the player’s flex. The interface provided countdowns, retake options, and real-time previews to make it approachable and fun.

3. Instant Upload + QR Sharing

Once recorded, the video was automatically uploaded to a secure server. A unique QR code appeared on-screen, letting fans instantly view, download, or share their clip via mobile — no app required.

4. Surprise & Delight

After participating, the vending machine dispensed a randomly selected prize — branded Timberwolves merchandise — creating a rewarding conclusion to the experience.
