The Objective

Client Challenge

Chase was looking to create a tech-forward activation that would familiarize consumers with the features of the Chase mobile app in a hands-on, engaging way. The goals were clear:

  • Educate users about key offerings within the Chase mobile app
  • Simulate the app experience without requiring users to download or log in
  • Execute the experience in a compact, self-service vending machine format
  • Drive brand interaction in a way that felt modern, intuitive, and personalized
  • Connect app engagement to physical reward to incentivize participation

Chase needed an activation that felt like product education — but delivered with the polish and simplicity of a real-world consumer tech product.

Users interacted with a touchscreen experience modeled after the Chase mobile app, complete with familiar layouts, navigation, and features like account overviews, rewards, budgeting tools, and card services.

Participants were prompted to “activate” specific features — such as enabling account alerts, viewing Chase Offers, or setting a savings goal. Each interactive step was gamified, allowing users to make choices as if they were customizing their real account.

Behind the scenes, each feature activation was linked to a physical prize. Once a user had explored enough app features, the vending machine automatically dispensed a corresponding gift — such as branded merchandise, financial literacy tools, or other promotional items.

How We Exceeded Expectations

High-Fidelity Simulation:  The app experience was designed to replicate the look and flow of the actual Chase app, offering users a realistic and tactile sense of its features.

Seamless Integration:  The software communicated directly with the vending machine hardware, syncing digital engagement with physical reward in real time.

Education Through Play: By guiding users through key offerings in a low-pressure, gamified environment, the activation delivered real learning without feeling like a demo.
