BGWG Monster Media developed a vending machine software experience that blended mobile activation, digital gameplay, and physical product rewards — all designed to reflect the bold, unpredictable energy of Mountain Dew.
Attendees started by scanning a QR code on the vending machine, which launched a mobile-friendly page prompting them to enter their phone number. They then received a unique code via SMS, unlocking their personal vending session.
Once activated, users were greeted by an on-screen slot machine — but instead of numbers or cherries, it featured spinning cans of Mountain Dew. With a tap, the reels spun with vibrant animations and sound effects, mimicking the energy of a casino experience with a Mountain Dew twist.
When the reels stopped, one of the four new Mountain Dew flavors was revealed — and that flavor immediately dispensed from the vending machine for the user to enjoy. Behind the scenes, each flavor was tied to a set of tiered rewards, giving users the chance to win larger, surprise prizes based on which can they received.
